RIVERDALE, N.Y. - As the Manhattan College men's basketball team gears up for its foreign tour to the Bahamas later this month, GoJaspers.com will post a series of features from the staff and student-athletes. The features will highlight how the team is spending its summer and building toward the start of the 2013-14 campaign.
Head coach Steve Masiello took some time to sit down with GoJaspers.com to discuss the team's progress during the summer months and the coaching staff's travels during the July recruiting period. Here is a snippet of the interview, which can be heard via the link below.
"We have the whole team here in session two and recruiting has been a little unique this year as we find ourselves trying to fill a class of George Beamon, Mike Alvarado and Rhamel Brown, which might be one of the best senior classes in Jasper history, or at least in the last 20 years. You're looking at three guys who could all be player of the year in the conference, three guys who all have a chance to play professionally and three guys who have been the heart and soul of this program for the last two years. We understand we're not going to find any high school men to come in and be them so what we're looking for are guys to come in and fit the Jasper way and what we're about."
