VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Free pets for senior citizens.
That's what brought people out to the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center.
In honor of Grandparents Day, seniors were allowed to adopt a senior pet for free. Officials say older pets are perfect for first-time owners.
They say the animals are emotionally mature and have stopped growing. Anyone under the age of 60 was able to adopt a senior pet today for half price.
Officials at the center say they will honor the special all week.
